_{Update 4 @ 10:22pm: Today, around 7:30pm, I had to put my Jiji down...
This morning he reblocked, and there were only two options left, surgery or saying good bye. Unfortunately, Jiji sustained really bad kidney damage, and even if the surgery worked, his kidneys would have taken a hit, and he would have spent the remainder of his life being in and out of the vet, for days at a time, until finally either he reblocked, or his kidneys gave out...
My fiance and I knew that that was no life for him, and he would just suffer and suffer... So we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go...
Thank you SO much for everyone's donations. We still owe the vet just over $1000 for all that they did to help him, and because of everyone we only need to pay $500 of that out of our own money.
We bought a gorgeous urn for him, and a paw print in order to honour his short, but happy life.

UPDATE 3 @ 8:32am: Called the vet this morning. Jiji is more lively, and even got up to walk around a bit.
They plan on removing his catheter around 3pm, my time obviously, which is 7 hours from now. At that point they will see if Jiji is able to urinate on his own.
I'm really hoping for the best. I miss my boy terribly.
Thank you to all those you have stopped by! I lowered the donation amount to the invoice total praying that all will go well and Jiji won't need additional medical procedures.

UPDATE 2 11:37am: Got a call from the vet this morning. She says that Jiji is doing significantly better than yesterday. His kidney values have dropped down from a dangerous 700+ to a bit over 400, which is very encouraging! His potassium levels have also declined from a serious 92 to a more positive number of 39.
The vet says the main concern now is that he is very lethargic. Jiji will be given pain medication in order to see if he brightens up at all.

UPDATE 4:21pm: Call from the vet informed me that Jiji IS IN LIFE THREATENING CONDITION. At this point he could die unless they move forward right away. My cost is now a minimum of $1500!
I feel so upset for my Jiji. He is such a sweet heart and he is suffering so much... PLEASE help if you can!

So last night my fiance discovered blood in our kitty litter room. We suspected it was Jiji, but couldn't find him. Just after midnight I found Jiji huddled by his water and food dish. When I got a good look at him, he looked terrible, and was shaking really bad...

So my fiance and I, and thanks to my dad for driving us, rushed Jiji to a 24 hour vet clinic at 1:45 in the morning.

The vet informed us that Jiji has a urinary blockage, which has stopped him from being able to pee. His bladder is huge because he hasn't been able to go, and he is really suffering.

So the vet gave us three options. We could try the least expensive route and euthanize him... we could try the "conservative" route and try to flush out his system once and see how he does, OR we could try the "aggressive" route where the vet has to leave a catheter in him for two days in order to flush out all the crystals in his pee.

Last night we tried the "conservative"route. That cost alone is $700-$800... I was able to pay for half...
I got an urgent call this afternoon that Jiji became blocked again, which means we have to take the aggressive route, and that will cost us almost $1500... which we really don't have the money for... My fiance and I will be eating cheap pasta for the next month...

Since my time on DA I've donated to a lot of people who have had pet troubles in order help see their pet through. I know I don't have a lot of watchers, and I hate to ask for help, but I love my Jiji and I don't know what I will do if I lose another cat this year...

I'm willing to do commissions if that is what needs to be done, but donations would be greatly appreciated... If not, please PLEASE spread the word to as many people as you can. Jiji is ONLY 4 years old... I don't want him to have such a short life...
